Once you have an accepted offer, you will likely want to get a home inspection scheduled. Home inspections are intended to help determine if there are any structural deficiencies or safety hazards on the property. It is a buyer’s expense and it’s your decision whether you’d like to have one done and who will perform the inspection. There is typically an inspection window in which all inspection must be completed and a deadline to submit any requests to the seller.
You may want to consider additional inspection services that cover such things as: HVAC, sewer/water line, fireplaces/chimneys, radon, lead, methamphetamine residue, etc. A termite inspection is typically a seller paid service for which you will receive a report.
