Once you have an accepted offer, you will likely want to get a home inspection scheduled. Home inspections are intended to help determine if there are any structural deficiencies or safety hazards on the property.
Home inspections are typically a buyer’s expense. You get to choose who will perform any inspections. There is usually a negotiated window of time in which all inspections must be completed. Any requests to the seller must also be made within this time and must be done in writing.
You may want to consider additional inspection services such as: HVAC, sewer/water line, fireplaces/chimneys, radon, lead, methamphetamine residue, etc. A termite inspection is typically a seller paid service and a report will be given to you before closing.
